BACOLOD City – To ensure a safe, secure and peaceful celebration of the New Year, the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) requested the Bacolod City Police Office to increase policemen’s visibility, especially in areas frequented by people at night.
These areas are Baywalk, Bacolod Public Plaza, Bacolod City Government Center grounds, Yoyo Land, and the Provincial Capitol Lagoon.
According to the SP, these places are often visited by Bacolodnons because of the opulent, colorful Yuletide decorations and abundant bright lights.
But it also pointed out that where there are many people gathering, especially at night, criminal activities often occur.
On the other hand, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez announced on his Facebook page that the city will be having a New Year’s Day Salubong at the Bacolod City Government Center.
“I want us all to welcome the New Year with a big bang! Join Bacolod City’s New Year’s countdown raffle,” the mayor said./PN
