Bacolod task force to step up drive vs illegal slaughter

BACOLOD City – Task Force Botagoy will intensify its campaign against illegal slaughtering, according to its new head Martin Tinaga.

Tinaga was designated as the task force’s new head following the retirement of Rex Juplo.

Before assuming the post, Tinaga underwent training at the National Meat Inspection Service in July.

Tinaga said he will meet Councilor Bartolome Orola next week to discuss the task force’s operation.

He added that he will coordinate with the Bacolod City Police Office for manpower.

City Ordinance No. 459 series of 2008 created Task Force Botagoy. It establishes guidelines and policies that cover the apprehension of individuals who perpetrate illegal slaughtering activities.

The AVM Bernardo Slaughter House located in Barangay Handumanan is the city’s official slaughterhouse.

According to its manager Glorydee Cometa, their production went down 10 percent in August due to illegal slaughtering activities in the city.

Now that Task Force Botagoy is active again, Cometa hopes that this problem would be addressed./PN
