BAGO City – Bacolod Tay Tung High School athletics team took home four gold medals in the two-day Provincial Qualifying Sports Competition on Wednesday at the Manuel Torres Sports Center here.
Jade Cordova delivered a gold and silver for the Thunderbolts. She ruled the women’s 100 meter dash and settling for silver medal in the women’s 400 meter hurdles.
Shaltea Delotavo, for her part, had gold and silver medal finishes when she ruled the women’s 200 meter dash and ended at second in the women’s 400 meter dash.
Krisha Dedoyco Aguillon and Bianca Juliana Seroy also notched a gold each in the women’s 100 meter dash and women’s triple jump, respectively, while April Dealagnon had bronze in women’s 800 meter run.
Thunderbolts atheltics head coach Amado Juguan said that the gold medal winners will be advancing to the ASEAN School Games Regional Elimination to be held from May 2 and 3 in Iloilo City.
The winners from the Regional eliminations will then move on to the national games for a chance to represent the country in the ASEAN School Games to be held in Dumaguete City later this year.
Vanessa Jane Pranisa of Bacolod City, meanwhile, captured two gold medals in the competition when she topped the women’s long jump and high jump events.
Rhea Mae Cainoy, also of Bacolod City, also snagged two golds in the two-day qualifiers when she topped the women’s 400 meter and 1,500 meter dash.
Bago City, meanwhile, had three gold medals courtesy of Kate Julienne Martines in discus throw and javelin throw and Ma Lathel Pamplona in shot put.
Kabankalan City got two gold medals from Rowelyn Francisco (3000 meter dash) and Chris Ann Dayanan (400 meter hurdles), while Rossian Dale Bitco of Pulupandan topped the 800 meter dash./PN
