
BACOLOD City – Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts secondary girls volleyball team retained their crown in the Palarong Panlalawigan on Saturday at the Montalbo Gym here.
The Thunderbolts, representing Bacolod City, clinched the crown after defeating Talisay City, 29-27, 25-6, 25-18, to earn the right to represent NOPSCCEA in the WVRAA Meet in Bacolod City later this month.
Rhose Vianne Almendralejo spearheaded the attack for the Thunderbolts to be hailed as the tournament Most Valuable Player and Best Server.
Jothea Mae Ramos bagged the Best Opposite Spiker award, Ana Fransessca Hermosura as Best 1st Outside Spiker, while Dona Mae De Leon and Camila Amor Bartolome clinched the 1st and 2nd Best Middle Blocker award, respectively.
Also part of the Thunderbolts squad are Joenil Anne Ramos, Ana Ysabelle Hermosura, Brianna Nikola Ang, Jan Rose Bulak, Rhea Mae Tomas, Mary Antonette Bontia and Czarina Marcella Dosayla.
Serving as head coach for the Thunderbolts is Ian Macariola with Judy Rodriguez, Romel Taniñas, Gersan Banzuela, and Julie Ann Samonte as his assistants.
Meanwhile, St. John’s Institute-Bacolod Baby Falcons, representing Bacolod City, captured the elementary girls crown after defeating Silay in the finals.
Julienne Laborte anchored the unbeaten run of the Baby Falcons to be named as tournament Most Valuable Player and 1st Best Middle Blocker.
Andi Lobaton, meanwhile, emerged as Best Setter and Best Server, Lucky Laborte as 2nd Best Middle Blocker and Thea Cagayanan as Best Libero.
In the secondary boys volleyball, Living Stones International School emerged as champions while Isabela National High School bagged the elementary boys volleyball crown./PN
