BACOLOD Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts repeated as champions in the Rebisco Volleyball League 18-under Regional Finals on Sunday at the University of St. La Salle Gym in Bacolod City.
The Thunderbolts earned the right to represent Western Visayas in the National Finals this November after a 25-13, 25-13, 25-10 domination over Central Philippine University Golden Lions in the finals.
The Thunderbolts had strong starts in each sets behind Alyssa Bertolano, Joan Marie Monares and Shane Carmona before thwarting each runs being made by the Golden Lions to preserve the win.
Bertolano was later hailed as the tournamentâs Most Valuable Player, Monares was awarded as the second Best Middle Blocker and Carmona was the first Best Outside Hitter.
Also part of Thunderbolts team were Rhean Almendralejo, Aurea Alvero, Gwen Bañas, Kiesha Bedonia, Annikha Cabasac, Katherine Cortez, Erika Deloria, Nicolei Galvan and Kathleen Tan.
âWe are happy with the opportunity to represent Western Visayas again in the National Finals. Rest assured the girls will give their best just like what we did last year,â said Thunderbolts assistant coach Biboy Calamba.
