
BACOLOD City – Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts emerged as champions in the 13-Under and 12-Under categories of the 1st Farm Fresh Grassroots Tournament over the weekend at the Montalbo Volleyball Covered Court here.
The Thunderbolts, mentored by Gersan Banzuela, captured the 12-Under category championship after a come-from-behind 15-25, 26-24, 25-16 victory over St. John’s Institute Bacolod team.
Marishka Andrada was awarded the Most Valuable Player for her solid performance for the Thunderbolts, while Mielle Letran and Kiana Cortez were named as 1st Best Outside Hitter and Best Opposite Hitter, respectively.
Lutchi Vivero, meanwhile, was named as 12-Under Thunderbolts’ Best Libero while Zelver Banguio was named as the tournament’s 2nd Best Middle Blocker.
Also part of the 12-Under Thunderbolts team are Jessica Soco, Yz Montalbo, Miley Panginiban. Chloe Alimon, Isabelle Narciso, Nicole Getino, and Xadrej Española.
The Thunderbolts of Judy Rodriguez emerged as champions in the 13-Under category as they defeated the Silay Darnatics in the one-game finals.
Alexa Bertolano was the top player for the 13-Under Thunderbolts squad for being named as the Most Valuable Player and 1st Best Outside Hitter.
Also with citation for the 13-Under Thunderbolts are Jamyl Montalbo (2nd Best Outside Hitter), Kara Feril (2nd Best Middle Blocker), Riza Andrada (Best Setter), and Maria Shannen Bañas (Best Libero).
Completing the 13-Under Thunderbolts are Marishka Andrada, Jemaima Calvo, Arianne Alayon, Athena Magbanua, Samantha Cañete, Alaica Lachica, and Shania Coronica.
