THE Bacolod City West Little League gears up for a tough competition in the 2018 Little League Junior Softball World Series from July 28 to Aug. 4 in Kirkland, Washington.
The squad of head coach Antonio Oquindo Jr. left the country on Thursday for Los Angeles before moving to Seattle, and then to Washington to begin its campaign on July 29 against Tampa, Florida.
“We are glad to be given another chance to represent the country in the World Series. We are hoping to complete our unfinished business there,” said Oquindo, pertaining to their silver medal finish last year.
Suiting for the squad representing the Philippines and Asia-Pacific are Glecilyn Alipato and Rhea Mae Quilong Quilong of Bacolod City; Angelica Cordero and Ma. Victoria Magbanua of Talisay City, Negros Occidental; and Shanayah Sion and Joecel Mae Cabato of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.
Also in the team are Mea Tubongbanua and Josiemers Maguad of Candoni town, Lyka Angeline Silverio of Silay City, Rodalyn Villanueva of La Carlota City, and Elemar Olarte, Rodlyn Felizardo and Angela Solidarios of Murcia town.
Also in the coaching staff are Roselle Hulleza of Cadiz City and Aileen Cabaybay of Bacolod City, Department of Education-Negros Occidental Sports Coordinator and Charter vice president Romeo Sison, and Charter coordinator Danico Esmane of Moises Padilla.
The team earned the right to represent the Philippines and Asia-Pacific after ruling the 2018 Little League Phoenix Asia-Pacific Regional Softball Championship at the United World College of South East Asia field in Singapore in June./PN
