Bacolod to celebrate Masskara Festival after two years of suspension

BACOLOD City – “This coming October, we will give you the best MassKara (Festival) ever.”

This was the announcement of Mayor Evelio Leonardia on April 9, during the launching of the comprehensive package for the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) support program held at the Bacolod City Government Center lobby.

The City’s world-renowned MassKara Festival will be staged this year after a two-year hiatus following the declaration of the coronavirus disease-2019(COVID-19) pandemic.

Leonardia said that the month-long celebration, as in its past stagings, will serve as a vehicle for Bacolod to re-position itself as a prime cultural destination and a major tourism event in this side of the Philippines.

The announcement of the festival’s revival was met with cheers from businesses, including those in the travel and tourism sector, who attended the “Ipadayon ang Negosyo kag Trabaho” launch.

It reported that Leonardia is seeking a reelection bid for his third term, against his political rival, Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, former congressman of the Third District of Negros Occidental on May 9 national and local elections./PN
