BACOLOD City – This city will be regulating the sale of Philippine National Police (PNP) clothing following a request from the police force.

Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) committee on fire, social defense, and natural disaster chair Councilor Pao Sy said on Monday, Feb. 19, that the request came from the PNP’s national office, which cited crimes where the suspects were donning police uniforms.

In line with this, a city-wide measure has been proposed, which hurdled the SP’s first reading last week.

Under the proposed ordinance, all police personnel buying their uniforms must secure from their respective offices a certification, with penalties to be imposed against violators.

Sy said she will request a list of stores authorized by the PNP from the Business Permits and Licensing Office for records and will soon call a public hearing./PN
