Bacolod to replace unclaimed Manokan food vouchers

BY MAE SINGUAY

BACOLOD City – The city government will replace the more than 900 unclaimed food vouchers for the Manokan Country tenants operating at the temporary site in the north wing of the SM City Mall Parking Hub.

The city has provided almost 3,400 food vouchers equivalent to a total of P500,000 with corresponding amount of P150 per voucher.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez yesterday said the food vouchers have expired last February 16, and more than 900 vouchers remained unclaimed.

“So I decided to replace it with a new voucher with new expiration date,” he said.

Councilor Celia Flor, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) committee on markets, said the P500,000 allocation for the food vouchers came from the personal money of Mayor Benitez.

The city mayor designated Flor for the distribution of the food vouchers to city residents.

The food vouchers were provided by the city mayor in response to the concern raised by the Manokan Country tenants that they would have a hard time attracting customers if they would move out from their stalls at the Reclamation Area that they are leasing from the city government./PN
