BACOLOD City – The head of the city government’s Public Order and Safety Office has been designated as officer-in-charge of the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO).
Primitivo Tabujara’s appointment followed the suspension of BTAO chief Patrick Lacson for five days.
The suspension, effective from May 7 to May 13, was for bringing a city government vehicle home, and due to an unpopular BTAO policy setting a quota of five traffic apprehensions per day for each traffic enforcer.
City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr. confirmed that Mayor Alfredo Benitez appointed Tabujara to oversee BTAO operations temporarily.
Tabujara, a retired officer of the Philippine National Police, pledged to maintain the standard operations of BTAO during this interim period.
He emphasized the continuation of work momentum and mentioned that any significant changes would require approval from the mayor.
On his first day, Tabujara held a meeting with BTAO personnel to reinforce the standards expected of them, including proper uniform attire, adherence to duty times, and thorough reporting procedures./PN
