Bacolod traffic enforcers to wear body cameras

BACOLOD City – The traffic enforcers of the Bacolod Traffic and Transport Management Department (BTTMD) will soon start using body-worn cameras (BWCs).

BTTMD officer-in-charge Patrick Lacson said the city government had purchased 250 BWCs for traffic enforcers, however they have yet to utilize it as they are still waiting for the secure digital (SD) cards.

Na-purchase na last year pa ang body cam pero nahulat lang namon ang insakto nga SD cards kay ang problema sang supplier sa availability sang SD cards kay basi obsolete na siya, gani napahingagaw namon. Within this month maabot,” he added.

Each BWC costs almost P500 while each SD card is lower than the said amount.

β€œThe purpose of wearing BWC is to capture interactions with the public, document evidence, and promote transparency since it has audio and video recording devices. It will record real-time audio and video footages for transparency, accountability, and security,” Lacson said.

The BTTMD OIC further said that BWCs will protect both traffic enforcers and civilians by ensuring accurate accounts of incidents and enhancing public trust./PN
