BACOLOD United FC banked on the exploits of former national team member Norman Fegidero as it scored a 4-0 win over Footballstory of South Korea in the 5th Ceres Cup at the North Field in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Fegidero, head coach of University of St. La Salle-Bacolod, scored a hat-trick to lead Bacolod United to its second consecutive title in the 40 and Up category on May 20. He was later named the division MVP.
Meanwhile Bayawan FC defeated Bago City FC to win the Boys 17 championship. STI-West Negros University settled for third place. Kyle Tuvalles of Bayawan was named as MVP.
Marilou Soriano, on the other hand, steered Sta. Barbara FC to the Ladies 18 category championship after beating Miriam College-Manila while Ateneo de Cebu finished third. Soriano was adjudged MVP in the category.
Other age-group winners were USP FC-Cebu City (Girls 13), Don Bosco Cebu (Boys 14), Bago City FC (Boys 12), and Ateneo de Manila (Mixed 9).
This yearās edition of Ceres Cup broke its record anew ā 532 teams from across the Philippines saw action in the tournament.
Aside from the thousands of players, around 10,000 parents and spectators also converged at the two-day event, organizers claimed.
