BACOLOD City – This city vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) around 106.9 percent of its target in the three-day (Nov. 29 to Dec. 1) national vaccination days or the “Bayanihan Bakunahan.”
A total of 70,752 people availed themselves of anti-virus jabs, a record from the Regional Vaccination Operations Center showed.
“It was an impressive feat. (It) showed that public-private partnership is alive, especially in this time of pandemic,” said Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical and data analysis of the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force.
Sorongon is optimistic that before Christmas or before the year ends, this city will achieve herd immunity.
Data (as of Dec. 5) from the Department of Health (DOH) showed 84 percent of the total target population received at least a single dose while 66 percent were fully vaccinated against the viral disease.
The city opened 42 vaccination centers in public and private schools, barangays, food chains and malls. It also fielded five VAX-i mobile vaccination clinics to far-flung areas./PN
