BACOLOD City – Yuletide celebrations in this city produced an increase of over 3,000 cubic meters of garbage.

The total garbage collection for November 2022 was 49,972.08 cubic meters and swelled to 53,147.81 cubic meters in December 2022, data from the city government’s Department of Public Services (DPS) showed.

DPS officer-in-charge Ma. Fe Tresfuentes said the increase in garbage volume also resulted in a backlog on the garbage collection of the IPM-Construction Development Corporation (CDC) this January 2023.

Tresfuentes assured the public that the IPM-CDC will double their trips hauling garbage to resolve the backlog.

IPM-CDC is the city’s private contractor for sanitary services. Its agreement with the city government was extended for four months pending the conduct of a bidding for a new contractor./PN
