MANILA – Bacolodnon libero Hannah Nicole Infante of Adamson University Lady Falcons has opted to discontinue from playing volleyball as she focuses on her future.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Infante admitted that it was a tough decision to leave the sport that she have played for almost 14 years since her younger years in Bacolod City.
“Before my last school year in college starts, I just want to say goodbye to my passion, volleyball. After 14 years, I’m finally letting you go,” the Bacolodnon wrote.
“Volleyball has given me so much more in life. I have met a lot of good people along the way. I have experienced a lot during my four years (with) Adamson and it taught me a lot of lessons in life that I’ll carry on to my next journey,” she added.
Infante was a former standout of St. John’s Institute in Bacolod City and even went on to represent and won a gold medal for Western Visayas in Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League.
The Bacolodnon then moved to Adamson University Junior Falcons in 2017 after impressing the coaching staff during a tryout conducted by the Manila-based school in Iloilo City.
Infante went on to continue her collegiate career with the blue and white colors of Adamson as a member of the school’s indoor and beach volleyball team in UAAP in 2019.
The cancellation of the last two UAAP seasons due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has prevented Infante from showing her wares further for Adamson.
Infante had her last stint as a Lady Falcon and as a volleyball athlete in the recent UAAP Season 84 where she was used sparingly by then Adamson coach Lerma Giron.
“I’m thankful and blessed with every memory I have made during those 14 years. God’s plan will always be the number one plan, and His plan for me is to take a path that’s made for me,” Infante said./PN
