Bacolodnon MMAer Mosquera to face Brazil’s Celso on Jan. 19

FILIPINO mixed martial arts fighters will try to defend their home tuft when they battle against Brazilian fighters in the Tiger Black BRAWL on Jan. 19 at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.

Bacolodnon Miguel Mosquera (5-3) will spearhead the Filipino fighters as he tangles with Afonso Celso Jr. of Rio de Janiero for the lightweight division of the event’s main event.

The 33-year-old Mosquera – a purple belt holder in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and a Pan Asia Jiu Jitsu Tournament gold medalist – will be suiting up for the 6100 Martial Art and Fitness (Bacolod).

Mosquera, who won most of his fights by submission, had an impressive MMA career that started with BRAWL before seeing actions in prestigious MMA outfights like Pacific Xtreme Combat and Universal Reality Combat Championships.

The 38-year-old Celso, who is a second degree black belt in Luta Livre (Portuguese for “freestyle wrestling”) and a black belt in Muay Thai, will be representing the Catalan Fighting System of Ilonggo MMA fighter Rene Catalan.

Another foreign fighter featured in the MMA card is 23-year-old Marco Birch of Denmark but is now based in Boracay, who will face Intoy Paltingca of Dumaguete City for the 160 lb. division.

The Tiger Black BRAWL will feature a total of 10 pro and semi-pro MMA matches which will be contested by fighters from Bacolod, Boracay, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dumaguete, Iloilo and Victorias representing 11 gyms and training centers./PN
