BACOLOD City – Bacolodnon Joan Marie Monares has been preparing for her move to the University of the Philippines women’s volleyball team.
“I am looking forward to this new chapter of my life. This is a great opportunity and a huge steppingstone (for) my volleyball career,” Monares, a middle blocker, said in an interview with SportsJourn.com.
“I have been preparing myself physically and mentally,” added the former Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts standout.
The 18-year-old Monares, however, is aware that committing to the Godfrey Okumu-mentored squad has a price.
“I have mixed emotions. I am anxious because I will be away from my family and I will be facing a whole new environment. But I am willing to go through everything,” Monares said./PN
