MANILA – Bacolodnon Kirell Montalbo is among the key players that will suit up in the first-ever Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 Basketball President’s Cup, which is set for launching this year.
Montalbo, a former De La Salle University Green Archers guard, will be leading the Quezon City-Zark’s Jawbreakers in the 3×3 basketball league that will be participated by 12 squads.
Bataan Risers will be one of the favored teams in the tournament with its powerhouse roster led by collegiate standouts Alvin Pasaol, Anton Asistio, Sean Manganti, and Leonard Santillan.
Manila Stars, on the other hand, will have former PBA players in Ronjay Buenafe and Carlo Lastimosa, while Pasig-Grindhouse Kings is bannered by Joshua Munzon and Taylor Statham.
Mike Ayonayon and Larry Muyang will spearhead the Go for Gold-San Juan Knights team, while Gabriel Banal and Matthew Aquino were the key players for the Bacoor Strikers.
Other teams in the competition are Valenzuela Classic, Marikina Shoemasters, Bulacan Kuyas, Cebu and Davao Occidental.
“Definitely I was surprised with the quality of players we have attracted,” said Chooks-to-Go president Ronald Mascariñas. “With this, we are expecting very close games in every leg of the President’s Cup.”
He added: “I would like to thank the team owners for going all-out this conference. For my part, I promise that the next conferences will be bigger.”/PN
