MANILA – Bacolodnon Jessma Ramos ended her stint with the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) after signing up with Peak Form in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

The Bacolodnon middle blocker announced on her social media account that she will not play in her final year of eligibility with the Fighting Maroons.

“Who would’ve thought that this would be the last…#UPFight,” the former Trinity Christian School standout wrote on her Instagram account with attached photos of her final stint with UP in UAAP Season 82.

The 5-foot-8 Ramos has been with the Fighting Maroons since 2017 and was part of the UP squad that ruled the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference and Philippine Superliga Collegiate Conference two years ago.

Ramos was the fourth Fighting Maroons player to end her collegiate stint aside from Maria Lina Molde and Maristela Layug, who moved to PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters, and Diana Carlos, who signed up with Creamline Cool Smashers.

Aside from Ramos, leading the way for the newly-formed Peak Form squad were former University of Santo Tomas standouts Carmela Tunay, Chlodia Cortez, Mary Dominique Pacres, Judith Abil, Angeli Araneta, Coleen Bravo, setter Angelica Legacion, and libero Bia General. Edgar Barroga will serve as the head coach of Peak Form.

“I did talk to my teammates that we really have to do our best because this team, they invested their trust in us. Napakadaling alisin ng team, pero it’s not gonna be easy for them if we give them quality performances and quality relationship,” Tunay said.

Hindi man kami manalo right away but then makitaan nila tayo ng something good in our efforts and our camaraderie kasi lahat naman ng teams na nagsimula hindi naman nag-champion agad. Hopefully ‘yung Peak Form magsimula ng maganda para magtagal pa yung samahan namin,” she added.

Peak Form is one of the nine teams competing in the upcoming PVL season aside from defending champion Creamline Cools Smashers, Petro Gazz Angels, BanKo Perlas Spikers, BaliPure Purest Water Defenders, Chef’s Classics Lady Red Spikers, Choco Mucho Flying Titans, PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters, and Cignal HD Spikers./PN
