Bacolodnon Vallespin keeps PH super featherweight belt

Allan Vallespin of Bacolod City has successfully defended his Games and Amusements Board super featherweight belt.

MANILA – Bacolodnon Allan Vallespin renewed his mastery over Warren Mambuanag with a fifth round stoppage to retain his Games and Amusements Board (GAB) super featherweight belt at the Elorde Sports Complex in Parañaque City.

It was the second successful title defense of the Bacolod City native who captured the belt via a unanimous decision triumph against Mambuanag in December 2016.

Vallespin had a strong start in the match. He unloaded multiple volume punches, including a straight punch to the midsection that floored Mambuanag in the first round.

Vallespin’s dominance continued in the next three rounds until the Bacolodnon put an end to the match with another knockdown. Mambuanag failed to beat the 10 seconds count of referee Jerrold Temoldan.

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa mga sumuporta sa akin, lalo na ‘yung mga kababayan ko sa Negros. Sila ang inspirasyon ko sa panalong ito,” Vallespin told Panay News after the match.

With the win, the 23-year-old Vallespin improved his boxing slate of 12-2-0, with nine wins coming by way of knockouts.

On the other hand, the 24-year-old Mambuanag’s boxing record went down to 11-10-2, including three stoppage victories.

In the co-main event of the fight card presented by Elorde International Promotions, Eranio Semillano retained the GAB super flyweight championship with a unanimous decision win./PN
