Bago City to host Regional Rescuelympics

BACOLOD City – The City of Bago in Negros Occidental will be the host of this year’s Regional Rescuelympics to be held at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Sports Center on Tuesday, October 29.

According to the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) in Western Visayas, the best of the region’s disaster response teams will come together in the said city to participate in the activity.

This exciting event will bring together teams from six provinces and two highly urbanized cities in the region – Negros Occidental, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo, and the cities of Bacolod and Iloilo.

OCD-6 said the event will provide a platform to showcase the disaster response teams’ skills, expertise, and quick thinking in real-world emergency scenarios.

“More than just a competition, the Rescuelympics is an opportunity to build camaraderie, strengthen partnerships, and enhance collaboration among Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) players across the region. Through friendly competition, participants will push their limits to improve their capabilities, inspiring others in the mission to protect and serve Western Visayas,” it added.

The Rescuelympics is a competitive event promoting disaster preparedness, resilience, and teamwork among rescue teams. This initiative tests skills in search and rescue, first aid, firefighting, and emergency response, emphasizing speed, coordination, and precision./PN
