BACOLOD City — A 58-year-old man who allegedly attacked two men in Barangay Mailum, Bago City had been stoned and stabbed to death.
Alex Sumugat of Purok Abaca of the said barangay succumbed to a head injury and stab wounds in the different parts of his body.
Police arrested the suspects Francis Ramos, 23, and Allan Valejo, 26, of Purok Kawayanan of the same barangay.
Ramos and Valejo claimed that Sumugat, who appeared drunk, tried to hack them using a cane cutter when they chanced upon each other at about 3 p.m. Sunday.
Sumugat missed, giving the two the chance to disarm and subdue the victim.
Ramos then got the cane cutter to stab Sumugat, police said. One of the suspects also grabbed a huge stone and hit the victim in the head.
Personal grudges may have led to the incident, said the police.
It was learned that Sumugat and the suspects earlier had a misunderstanding in Bacolod City.
On the same day, a trisikad driver was shot dead in Charito Heights, Barangay Alangilan here.
The body of 28-year-old Joseph Salas of Phase 5, Charito Heights bore gunshot wounds inflicted by .45-caliber and .9-mm pistols, police said.
