PAVIA, Iloilo — A grandson of a barangay captain in Iloilo City, was arrested for selling illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Ungka 2 here.
Gelmarck Gregory, 22, was collared in the operation staged by personnel of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office and the Pavia police station.
He is a grandson of Barangay Captain Remia Gregory of Bakhaw, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Gregory’s two other companions, Cerilo Jamili and Fortunato Abonade, were also arrested.
A police poseur buyer bought a sachet of shabu from the suspects for P500.
Recovered from their possession were 12 sachets of shabu, a caliber .38 revolver and a 12-gauge shotgun.
The buy-bust operation was conducted on Thursday.
Gregory refused to mention the name of their drug source but admitted to being the grandson of the said barangay captain.
Bakhaw is the most notorious source of illegal drugs among barangays in Iloilo City. Close behind is Desamparados in Jaro district.
Remia Gregory is one of the 40 barangay captains in Iloilo City who have not yet submitted the names of suspected illegal drug dealers in their barangays to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency./PN
