Police Brigadier General Leo M. Francisco, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), said the house where the buy-bust was conducted served as a drug den.

Nakakuha tayo ng asset that’s why we were able to penetrate inside,” he said. “Bibili ng droga tapos magbabayad sa drug den para makagamit ng droga. Ganyan ang kalakaran sa loob ng barangay.”

“We are conducting investigation and tactical interrogation to know kung saan  kumukuha ng stock,” Francisco said.

On Aug. 5, 2022, 22 cops from the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) were detailed in Barangay Bakhaw following the request for police deployment of village chief Joel Alvarado. He observed that many outsiders were entering the area at night.

The 32 suspects were taken to the Mandurriao police station.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 would be filed against them./PN
