ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) sacked the whole personnel of the Mandurriao district police and City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) following the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit’s successful operation against a drug den in Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao on Wednesday where 32 suspects were arrested.
“Nakakuha ang RDEU ng droga at may nahuli. Bakit hindi nila nakuha ‘to,” said Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, police regional director.
He ordered the officer-in-charge of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica, to change all the personnel of Police Station 5 (Mandurriao) and the CDEU.
“I am not satisfied with their performance, including the commanders,” said Francisco.
Mandurriao police station was led Police Captain Benjie Dicen while CDEU was under Police Captain Marlon Perez.
“Based sa review natin ng kanilang records, nag-fail sila ng expectations ko. Failure sila,” said Francisco.
Aside from apprehending 32 drug suspects at the Bakhaw drug den, the PRO-6’s RDEU also confiscated suspected shabu valued at P918,000.
“I give full authority to our new ICPO director to decide to relieve non-performing police personnel – police commissioned officers or police non-commissioned officers,” said Francisco.
The region’s top cop also issued a stern warning to all ICPO personnel to support Coronica.
Francisco led yesterday’s turnover of command ceremony between outgoing ICPO director, Police Colonel Leo Batiles, and Coronica.
Coronica vowed to focus on the campaign against illegal drugs./PN
