Balasan fire leaves P1.5-M damages

ILOILO – In the early hours of Saturday, Nov. 18, a fire in Purok Tulamis, Barangay Maya, Balasan engulfed four houses.

The blaze also razed a computer shop, four motorcycles and a tricycle.

Preliminary investigations by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Balasan and Balasan Municipal Police Station showed that the total damages were pegged at around P1.5 million.

Fire Officer 3 Ivan Derick Celoso said all four houses, adjacent to each other, were owned by Judith Intila, 70; Cyril Intila, 28; Cyron Intila, 40; and Christopher Intila, 50.

A fire call was made around 2:30 a.m., and a fireout was declared by 5 a.m. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.

Balasan BFP said the cause of the blaze may have been electrical in nature. However, a more thorough investigation is ongoing./PN
