BACOLOD City – After serving Negros Occidental for about one year and a half, Police Colonel Romeo Baleros will finally bid adieu.

Baleros paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson on Monday, five days before his retirement on June 6.

The Negros Occidental Police Office (NOCPPO) director on that day will reach the mandatory retirement age of 56.

Lacson, for his part, thanked Baleros for his outstanding service to the people of Negros.

A turnover of command at the NOCPPO headquarters was set this week. Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan is expected to lead the ceremony.

When interviewed by members of the media, Baleros revealed three senior police officials were included in the short list vying for the position as the incoming provincial police director or Negros Occidental.

The three possible successors were Police Colonels Romeo Palgue, Kenneth Lucas and Dexter Rellora.

Palgue is presently assigned at the Directorate for Human Resource Doctrine and Development, Lucas as officer-in-charge of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office and Rellora as head of the Anti-Kidnapping Task Group-Visayas Field Unit.

Lacson will select the successor of Baleros from the list provided to him by the PRO-6. He has yet to be furnished with the list./PN
