ILOILO – The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Banate, Iloilo allocated P2 million to purchase the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines.
Mayor Carlos Cabangal Jr. confirmed the allotment, adding that the vaccine brand will depend on the Iloilo Provincial Governments decision.
“Huo, may ara man kami kay garing tungod sang availability sang vaccine nagahulat man kami sang desisyon sang province. Around P2 million ang gin-allot namon,” said Cabangal.
Cabangal plans to vaccinate 70 percent (around 30, 000) of the total population of Banate.
The LGUs will continue to follow the priority list set by the Department of Health (DOH).
The Mayor said the LGUs already began vaccination programs the moment they received the vaccines from the DOH.
Cabangal received his first dose of the Sinovac vaccine on April.
He urged for all barangay officials and Barangay Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) to explain to the public the importance of getting vaccinated.
The advocacy campaign of the LGUs regarding the benefits of vaccination is ongoing.
