Banga municipal worker falls in drug sting

AKLAN – A contractual employee of the Banga municipal government here was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation on Wednesday, July 24.

The 38-year-old Ariel Inorino, a resident of Barangay Tabayon, Banga town, was classified as a high-value drug suspect.

According to the Banga Municipal Police Station (MPS), after the suspect handed over a plastic sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover cop for P2,000 on Bougainvilla Street, Barangay Poblacion, he tried to evade arrest.

He was later captured inside a compound along Sampaguita Street after a brief chase.

Police recovered a total of eight plastic sachets of suspected shabu, lighter, and mobile phone.

Major Frenzy Andrade, chief of the Aklan Police Provincial Office’s Drug Enforcement Unit, said the suspect was monitored engaging in illegal drug trade for three weeks.

He said Inorino operates in the towns of Kalibo, New Washington, Lezo, and Banga.

The suspect was detained at the custodial facility of Banga MPS, facing charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)./PN
