Baptist Student Center Table Tennis Club holds Iloilo National Invitational Table Tennis Championships

Table Tennis stars descended to Iloilo City last May 30- 31, 2022 to participate in the prestigious Iloilo National Invitational Table Tennis Championships, organized by the Baptist Student Center Table Tennis Club (BSCTTC), and held at the Iloilo Sports Complex covered gym.

The two- day event attracted the best table tennis players in the country, which included the recent Hanoi Sea Games doubles silver medalists Richard P. Gonzales and John Russell P. Misal. 16 formidable teams took part in the high- stakes tournament, with some down to the wire games bringing out the best of each other.

After the dust has settled, ITTSA- Carlson Digital Prints, Inc. bannered by Philippines No. 1 player Jann Mari Nayre and Val Stephen Jaca (Hua Ching Cebu), as well as of Elijah Yamson (De La Salle- Zobel) , Bacolod table tennis legend John Paul Gubaton (ex-USLS player), and Chebuel Andaloc (ex- UST), bested Baptist Student Center- Joola Philippines composed of former National University standouts John Russell P. Misal (national player), Francis Bendebel and Zoren Mendiola, together with Alexis Bolante (ex- San Beda), and Baptist Student Center’s very own J Allan Noel Gayoso (CPU). 2nd runners- up were: 1) Team Jee Ar— with members John WIlliam Manago (ex- San Beda), Matt Andrew Ramos (Letran- Manila), Andrew Lemon (ADMU), Bryan Pabelic (ex-UPHS), and ITTSA’s Christian Dave Baptista (ex-USA); and 2) Baptist Student Center- City Signs Iloilo Team with national player John Michael Castro (UST), as well as other UST players Alvin Sevilla, Prince Karl Garcia, Eljey Dan Tormis (Hua Ching Cebu), and Sean Sancho Sabay, who also honed his skills at Baptist Student Center.

Bacolod’s Mr. Ervin Bomban emerged victorious after defeating Judge Glenn Quimba of Sultan Kudarat in a gruelling 5-setter. Atty. Rexinor John Demogena (Baptist Student Center) and Mr. Jumar Garrido (Calinog) were the 2nd runners-up.

Tournament organizers Atty. Ryan R. Castro and Mr. Cyrus V. Tolentino would like to thank the event sponsors City Signs Iloilo, Atty. Abet Reyes, Nature’s Spring Water, BSC players, their parents, and Sens Mieux, and everyone who particpiated in the said event and contributed to its success. They also hope that the Tournament will become an annual event to promote the sport of table tennis and to foster camaraderie among the players all over the country.
