MANILA – Conducting the bar examinations outside Luzon may improve the passing rate of the takers, lawmakers said.
Some examinees who travel to Manila to take the exam experience financial and psychological stress during their four-week stay in the city, said congressmen Rufus Rodriguez and Maximo Rodriguez.
In House Resolution 103, they urged the Supreme Court to hold the annual bar exams in Manila for those from Luzon; Cebu City for Visayas; and Cagayan de Oro City for Mindanao.
In 2010, Baldomero Estenzo, dean of the University of Cebu – College of Law, asked the high court to hold the exams in regional centers.
“Various law schools in the Visayas and Mindanao have in, recent years, called for the decentralization of the bar exams,” the Rodriguezes said.
