ILOILO – Six houses were razed by fire on Sunday in Barangay Tolarucan, Mina town.

The totally burned were owned by Rocel Ordoyo, Rose Acana, Roger Acana, Rogelio Acana Canilla, and Hermer Plaga.

According to Mina police investigator, Police Senior Master Sergeant Roseldo Babon, the fire started at around 5:15 p m. on Jan. 16 in the house of Ordoyo.

It quickly spread to neighboring houses due to strong winds.

“No one was hurt,” Babon said.

As of this writing, the BFP was yet to release its total damage estimate.

The Ordoyo family was not around during the fir, police said.

This fire incident is one of the first in Iloilo province this new year.

Just this Jan. 4, fire gutted a house in Barangay Poblacion East, Oton, Iloilo.

The house was owned by Bessie Retaña. She was not around when the fire struck.

According to the BFP, neighbors spotted the fire razing the back portion of the house (kitchen area) around 9 a.m.

Because the house was made of light materials, the fire spread quickly.

Damaged was estimated to have reached P100,000.
