Barangay ‘kagawad’ robbed, shot to death

BACOLOD City – A village councilman was shot to death in his store in Barangay Antipolo, Pontivedra, Negros Occidental.

The 45-year-old resident Edward Dominic Algara sustained gunshot wounds on the head and body, police said.

According to police investigators, Algara was tending to his store when an unidentified suspect declared holdup and shot the victim twice around 11:15 a.m. on March 23.

The suspect then took the victim’s money, the police added.

Algara was rushed to the Valladolid District hospital where the attending physician declared him as “dead on arrival.”

Officers of the Pontivedra municipal police station conducted a manhunt operation against the suspect who fled after the shooting./PN
