Barangay Poblacion, Badiangan locked down

ILOILO – Mayor Serafin Villa Jr. of Badiangan town ordered the lockdown of Barangay Poblacion.

A call center agent with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infected a sibling.

Villa said contact tracing was launched by the Rural Health Unit of the municipality.

While the barangay is on lockdown, it would be decontaminated.

“There is a need to limit the movement people in the barangay,” stressed Villa in a bid to stop the disease from spreading.

The lockdown started on Wednesday morning, Aug. 19.

“Samtang naga-contact tracing kita, wala anay sang makasulod sa barangay,” said Villa.

The lockdown will be lifted after the contact tracing and disinfection have been completed.

The call center agent worked in Iloilo City at a business processing outsourcing company hit by a COVID-19 outbreak recently.

The agent tested positive for COVID-19 on Aug. 5. The sibling, just this Aug. 18.

The lockdown is affecting some 500 households. Villa said the municipal government will shoulder their meals.

As of Aug. 18, Badiangan recorded seven COVID-19 cases – five indigenous, one locally stranded individual and one repatriated overseas worker./PN
