SAN JOSE, Antique – A barangay tanod of Mojon here was shot dead at about 9:45 a.m. yesterday.
Jerry Coliquingan was 58.
A suspect had been identified – Vicente Hinosa, 33, and a resident of Barangay Mojon, too.
According to Barangay Captain Richie Boy Moscoso, Coliquingan sustained three gunshot wounds – two on the back and one on the head.
Coliquingan was rushed to the nearest hospital where he was declared “dead on arrival.”
Moscoso denied he requested for Coliquingan’s presence in their barangay hall. Prior to the shooting, the barangay tanod called a colleague and asked if the barangay captain really sent Hinosa requesting his presence.
Minutes after, Coliquingan was shot dead.
Moscoso assured the family of Coliquingan that the barangay council will do everything with the help of the police to give justice to the slain tanod.
Hinosa disappeared after the shooting. The police launched a manhunt./PN
