ANTIQUE – The town of Barbaza strengthened its preventive measures against African Swine Fever (ASF) by prohibiting the entry of swine, pork and its by-products.

Mayor Roberto C. Necor issued Executive Order (EO) No. 20 temporarily banning the entry of swine, pork and its by-products from other municipalities, and regulating breeding services, slaughtering and raising of hogs/swine.

He ordered the following specific measures:

* All swine, pork and its by-products from other municipalities are temporarily banned from entering and circulating in the municipality of Barbaza.

* All existing pork, pork products and its by-products circulating in the municipality without proper supporting documents will be confiscated and disposed properly by proper authorities.

* Local boar owners who offer breeding services are prohibited from rendering their services outside the municipality including artificial insemination (AI).

* Slaughtering of hog/swine will only be done at the municipal slaughterhouse located in Palma Public Market. The hog/swine owner needs to secure a pre-mortem and post-mortem certificate, prior to and after slaughter, respectively, from the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist.

* Biosecurity measures shall also be set up at the municipal slaughterhouse thereby requiring everyone entering thereon to observe such measures prior to admittance into the establishment.

* All barangays shall conduct a weekly inventory of swine population in their respective jurisdiction and submit it to the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist.

* All barangays in the municipality are enjoined to activate their “Bantay African Swine Fever (ASF) Sa Barangay or the “Babay ASF Program” in the province of Antique.

* Going to gatherings like fiestas in localities with confirmed ASF cases are highly discouraged.

The Barbaza Municipal Police Station, barangay officials and tanods, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and Office of the Municipal Agriculturist shall set up control points in the municipal borders in barangays Bahuyan and Beri to monitor, control, and manage the entry and movement in the municipality of all live swine pigs, pork and its by-products.

All barangay officials are also enjoined to cooperate and take necessary actions to prohibit the entry of ASF into the municipality and their respective barangays./PN
