BARBER BUSTED

Another Bacolod anti-drug op nets P5.1-M ‘shabu’

BACOLOD City – An entrapment operation led to the confiscation of suspected shabu estimated to be worth around P5.1 million in Purok Kabulakan 1, Barangay Singcang-Airport. Eighteen plastic sachets weighing 430 grams were recovered from 28-year-old barber Errol Gimarangan Jr. of Purok Gaisano, Barangay Alijis.

Officers of Police Station 8 said they cornered Gimarangan at his rented house in Barangay Singcang-Airport after the suspect sold a sachet to an undercover officer for P500 around 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Gimarangan was detained at the lockup cell of Police Station 8. He would be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Police Station 8 commander Chief Inspector Ruel Culanag said they did not expect to recover such a huge volume of suspected drugs since Gimarangan was only a “small-time” target.

Culanag added that Gimarangan – who had been under surveillance for a week – got his supply from San Carlos City, where six kilograms of suspected shabu were recovered early this week.

On Tuesday, police also seized suspected shabu worth about P1.4 million from two men in Barangay 4, Bacolod City.

The following day, another operation led to the seizure of suspected shabu worth an estimated P1.2 million in Purok Magayon, Barangay Singcang-Airport, also in the capital city./PN
