ILOILO City – A 52-year-old man suspected of “barking” for Leganes, Iloilo-bound passenger jeepneys was arrested for violating the anti-barking ordinance along Infante Avenue and General Luna Street, City Proper.
Alfredo Bejemino of Barangay San Juan, Molo district was caught in the act of asking passengers to ride a passenger jeepney by two policemen on Saturday night.
Police Officers 1 Kenny Roger Solatorio and Fritz Foerster were riding around the city on bicycles when they spotted Bejemino barking for a Leganes-bound passenger jeepney with plate number FVW-272 driven by Sherwin Acculada around 11 p.m.
They recovered the money (P160) that Bejemino had earned from jeepney drivers as barker.
Barkers are persons persuading passengers to board public utility vehicles.

The ordinance imposes imprisonment of not less than three months and not more than six months on barkers upon the court’s discretion.
Iloilo City police director, Senior Superintendent Ruperto Floro has asked barkers to stop their illegal activity, and for drivers to ignore the barkers./PN
