ILOILO City – Four people accused of acting as jeepney barkers have been arrested.
Crister Malones Pelago of Barangay Sta. Rosa was nabbed on Aldeguer Street, while Ariel Porras Sarabia of Barangay Tabuc Suba, La Paz district was caught on JM Basa Street.
On the other hand, Carmelo Orbino Plagni of Barangay Rizal Ibarra was arrested on Valeria Street, while Grace Dan Magdael Enderes of Barangay Zone 3, Barrio Obrero, Lapuz was nabbed on Delgado Street.
All of them were detained in the lockup cell of Police Station 1 on Thursday, Nov. 17.
Barkers cajole passengers to board jeepneys. But the city government has outlawed their practice.
Under Regulation Ordinance No. 2014-194 a barker could be jailed for a minimum of three months but not more than six months./PN
