ILOILO – The municipal government of Barotac Nuevo has restricted the entry of people from adjacent Dumangas town.
Only the following may enter Barotac Nuevo:
* frontline and emergency workers
* government official and employees
* those with immediate medical needs
* those who will deliver basic and essential goods
* those working in business establishments
To enter Barotac Nuevo, they must present to security personnel at the border “any government-issued identification card, certificate of employment and medical certificate.”
The travel restriction aims to protect Barotac Nuevo. Dumangas has seen a surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases – 42 as of this writing (20 active cases, 21 recovered and one dead).
As of Sept. 2, Barotac Nuevo only had 17 COVID-19 cases – eight active, seven recovered and two dead.
Dumangas also has 696 persons under monitoring for possible COVID-19 infection.
Mayor Bryant Paul Biron’s Executive Order No. 15, Series of 2020 ordered the setting up of border control points in five border barangays – Lagubang, Acuit, Agcuyawan Pulo, Jalaud, and Linao.
To man the border control points are policemen, barangay officials and Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams.
Non-essential travel to and from Dumangas is not allowed./PN
