ILOILO – There will be no government transactions at the municipal hall of Barotac Viejo today.
Mayor Nielo Tupas suspended work after an employee tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“Isa sa mga empleyado sang LGU (local government unit) ang nag positibo sa COVID-19. Tungod dira, may ara nga disinfection sang munisipyo,” Tupas announced in a social media post.
The suspension will also give way to contact tracing as most local government employees were said to be possible close contacts of the patient.
LGU operations will resume tomorrow, Tupas said.
As of Feb. 5, Barotac Viejo had 85 total confirmed coronavirus cases, with one active case, 81 recoveries and three fatalities./PN
