Batad, Dingle record ASF cases, too

ILOILO – The number of towns with cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) rose to 18 on Jan. 25, with Batad and Dingle towns adding to the list, said Dr. Darel Tabuada, Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) chief.

Three of four blood samples from two farms in Barangay Hamod, Batad tested positive for ASF. Fifty hogs were immediately culled.

In Dingle, all four blood samples from barangays Matangharon and Bongloy tested positive for ASF. Fifty-nine hogs were culled.

The town is now a red zone. The movement of live pigs, pork, pork products (fresh/frozen pork products and uncooked processed pork products, except cooked and canned processed pork products), and swine genetic materials in and out of the said municipality is prohibited.

Of the 18 towns with recorded ASF infections, 13 were red zones while five were pink zones.

The red zones are the following: Oton, San Miguel, Leganes, New Lucena, Alimodian, Santa Barbara, Janiuay, Mina, Barotac Nuevo, Dumangas, Banate, Dingle, and Barotac Viejo.

The five pink zones are Dueñas, San Dionisio, Batad, Badiangan, and Zarraga./PN
