ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry Treñas has recommended that Police Colonel Leo Batiles be made a full-fledged director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).
Batiles is currently leading the ICPO but as an acting director only.
“It is best that the next in line be a home-grown officer, one who is more than capable and knowledgeable of the comings and goings in the City of Iloilo,” stressed Treñas in a Dec. 14 letter to Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, director of the Police Regional Office 6.
After careful consideration, according to Treñas, he found it proper to select Batiles as the successor of retired ICPO director, Police Colonel Uldarico Garbanzos.
“I am more than convinced of (Batiles’) skills and capabilities fitting the position perfectly,” said Treñas.
A true-blooded Ilonggo, Batiles finished his elementary and secondary education at Jaro Elementary School and Jaro National High School, respectively. He graduated from Colegio dela Purisima Concepcion with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Commerce; and from the Philippine National Police Academy with a degree in Public Safety.
Batiles also holds a Master’s degree in Management Major in Public Administration from the Philippine Christian University.
He has been serving the Philippine National Police for nearly 30 years, taking on many positions, and receiving various medals along the way.
“Equipped with a good educational background, he deserves and makes a good leader,” according to Treñas./PN
