MANILA – Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) Director Isidro Lapeña have tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In a statement over the weekend, dela Rosa said four of them in their household tested positive for the viral disease, including his eldest daughter, driver and a house helper.

“I’m sorry to inform you that I tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday. To all who made contact with me, please do the appropriate protocols,” dela Rosa said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Lapeña also tested positive for the virus on Saturday, but was negative for it the time he went to the Senate on Wednesday, the day dela Rosa supposedly contracted COVID-19, according to Sen. Joel Villanueva.

“Sec. Lapeña on the other hand tested negative when he went to Senate. He was with me almost the whole time but we were both wearing face mask and face shield,” Villanueva said.

Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, meanwhile, has advised those people who were present at the Senate to isolate themselves as precautionary measure./PN
