AKLAN – Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN)-Aklan condemned what it described as the sabotage of its peaceful rally at Crossing Banga – New Washington on June 30 during the inauguration of President President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
BAYAN-Aklan’s rallyists protested against Marcos.
In a statement, it called out Nalook Pook Caano Homeowners’ Association (NAPOCACIA) that held a competing “blitzkrieg” rival rally supportive of Marcos.
According to BAYAN-Aklan, NAPOCACIA was a local alliance of SAMBAYANAN, a losing pro-government party-list that has been campaigning against militant groups.
NAPOCACIA rallyists brought placards red-tagging BAYAN-Aklan, according to the militant group.
“We are saddened that NAPOCACIA allowed itself to be used as SAMBAYANAN’s tool in dividing Aklanons,” BAYAN-Aklan said.
The cause-oriented group believes the NAPOCACIA rally was designed to vilify BAYAN-Aklan.
For its part, according to BAYAN-Aklan, its rallyists were never undisciplined as they exercised their democratic and constitutional rights to protest.
BAYAN-Aklan condemned SAMBAYANAN and called on Aklanons to safeguard themselves from deception and disinformation./PN
