2. Testimony #2 Holy Eucharist Mass Action (HEMA) I Our Lady of Victory Chapel, Malabon Philippines – Feb. 2, 2017
My son was a scavenger. For a long time he had been a scavenger. His physical appearance was really unkempt and people could easily prejudge him as a bad person.
On January 18, he was somewhere in the Hermosa area. He was in Pilar Street in Hermosa where he was shot. He was 38 years old. We did not find out right away that he was killed on the 18 until January 21.
We concluded that this was a case of mistaken identity because when he was brought to the funeral parlor, his body was tagged as Reynaldo Gutierrez while my son is in fact Rolando Paredes. We knew it was mistaken identity.
After four days, the funeral parlor, who by the way charged excessively, told us there was a problem because our son had a different name from that of the cadaver that was brought in. The funeral parlor owner said that they still had to meet with the two policemen who had to do the necessary correction regarding the name.
So, this is really a manifestation of mistaken identity. But even if a person is guilty of something, we have laws that exist and we have to follow due process. If anyone is at fault, that person has to be brought to court, a case should be filed against him but he should not be killed without trial.
There are many cases like this. And those who are being killed are those with dirty feet and who are only wearing slippers…while the high and mighty drug lords are not brought to justice.
This is what makes me sad. Thankfully, there was a stop in the operations in the last two days. And since then, the killing of small people has stopped and they even said there was zero casualty. This is another manifestation that the EJK is sponsored by the State. This is clear, isn’t it? After the operations stopped, nobody was killed according to the newspapers.
I will not make this long. I will just end by saying that this has to stop. Let us follow the law, cases must be filed, people tried and penalized; BUT in the end, the State or government has a moral obligation to fix this problem…and not by killing.
3. Testimony # 3 Holy Eucharist Mass Action (HEMA) I Our Lady of Victory Chapel, Malabon Philippines, Feb. 2, 2017
I am the mother of Aljun Deparini. That Tuesday, my son and I just came out of the hospital. He asked me for P10 and he bought bread. Then, when we went down (from the jeep), his friend called him to watch TV at a friend’s house.
I did not know that there was Tokhang who arrived in that house. I went there bringing my son’s medicines and his x-ray. They were about to get my son but I begged for mercy and told the people with bonnets that my son had a lung disease and that he just came out of the Tondo hospital.
The “bonnet” people told me not to panic because they would return my son. But when they did, my son was already dead.
All I ask our dear President is that in his fight against drugs, I hope that only the guilty ones be punished. My son was innocent. He was not a drug addict.
I am working in Youngstown so that we can have something to eat. And then in the end, for no reason at all, they will kill people who are innocent. (To be continued/PN)
