Bayawan farmer yields improvised firearms

BACOLOD City – Police raided a farmer’s house around 5:20 p.m. in Purok 2, Barangay Dawis, Bayawan City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday to seize a number of unregistered firearms.

Joint elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Region 7 (CIDG-7) and the Bayawan City police identified the suspect as farmer Ignacio Rubio Talarion, 59, resident.

Police confiscated from the suspect one unit improvised short shotgun; a long homemade shotgun; one unit .357 caliber revolver; four live bullets of .357; two live bullets of caliber .38 and two live bullets of 12-gauge shotgun.

Talarion’s home was raided on the strength of a search warrant issued by Judge Gerard Paguio, Jr., Acting judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 63 in Bayawan City, dated Nov. 27. The CIDG-7 was led by Chief Inspector Ronald Allan Tolosa.

The suspect has been detained at the Bayawan City police station lockup facility, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
