BACOLOD City – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed Negros Occidental’s Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer as his “personal adviser” for Western Visayas.
The appointment took effect on Wednesday when Ferrer attended a meeting with Marcos, House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and several other lawmakers.
According to Ferrer, he accepted the position of “personal adviser” without salary, and clarified, too, that he had no intention of resigning his post as Negros Occidental vice governor.
He pointed out the reason why he couldn’t accept the position of Presidential Adviser – the 890,000 Negrenses who voted for him in the recent elections.
Ferrer thanked the President for his trust and confidence in him.
As “personal adviser”, he said he has direct access the President and would bring to his attention pressing matters in Western Visayas.
Among the issues Ferrer said he already brought to the President’s attention are the sugar industry, healthcare services and llegal drugs./PN
