BACOLOD City – To strengthen partnerships and combat terrorism and other forms of crime and violence here, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), Armed Forces of the Philippines, and local Muslim leaders held a coordination meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Present at BCPO’s Patnubay Hall were Colonel Noel C. Aliño, director of BCPO; Lieutenant Colonel Mark Evan Salvo, chief of the Provincial Intelligence Unit of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office; and Muslim leaders in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental, including the Salaam Police Advocacy Group, led by Amin Sultan.
Aliño said a coordination meeting was held following a command directive requiring a high degree of alertness, readiness, and preparedness in line with the bombing incident at Mindanao State University in Marawi City on Dec. 3. The Islamic State militants claimed responsibility for the deadly bombing.
The discussion included proactive measures to prevent the occurrence of similar terror attacks in Bacolod City and Negros Island, Aliño added.
Identification, verification, and mechanisms to relay vital information to hinder the entry, infiltration, and operations of terrorist and extremist groups and individuals into the city were among the salient topics discussed during the meeting./PN
